Organisation Structure
The Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management was formed over thirty-five years ago to promote the purchasing profession through education and training. The Institute's aim is to promote excellence in all aspects of purchasing and supply management.
The Institute is a not-for-profit, non-commercial organisation that is managed and controlled by its members. The Institute’s governing body is the council of the Institute. It is comprised of fifteen Institute members, elected by the membership body. Council members are elected for a two-year term and are also directors of the legal entity company, a company limited by guarantee.
The Institute is manageed by a full-time staff headed up by the Chief Executive Officer, Des Crowther.
Committee Structure
Key stakeholders including, learners, members (includes business sector) and academics, comprise the membership of the Institute’s committees along with full-time staff and members of the council. The committees are arranged based on the key market segments that the Institute has identified namely, education, training and professional activities.
Mission and Objectives
The Irish Institute of Purchasing & Materials Management is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in purchasing & materials management through education, training and representation and to the provision of focused, professional services to its members.
The IIPMM is the professional association for purchasing and supply executives in the Republic of Ireland. The Institute's aim is to promote excellence in all aspects of purchasing and supply chain management.
It offers guidance on best practice, implement research and training initiatives and represent the interests of it’s members nationally and internationally.
Key objectives
1. To support the development of professional competence among Irish purchasing and supply managers
2. To stay ahead of the rapid and radical changes that are constantly affecting the profession
3. To ensure that Institute membership is synonymous with professionalism and with ethical management

Strategic Plan Synopsis
The core aim is to ensure that the Institute fulfils its mission and continues to maintain and grow its position and relevance in the area of supply management in Ireland. For IIPMM to achieve this it needs a clear but flexible strategy that is robust enough to deal with the degree of uncertainty in our markets but also has a clear set of aims and objectives that will frame our actions in the next three years. The strategic plan segments the Institute’s environment into, education, training and professional activities.
