Higher Certificate in Business, Procurement, Level 6

 

 

 

 

This two year, part time programme is a first step to achieve an internationally recognised professional Honours Degree in Procurement and Supply Management.

The Higher Certificate provides the student with a mix of procurement and general business modules with a strong focus on operational issues in procurement and supply. It also introduces basic quantitative methods used in research projects to develop functional knowledge and its application in a procurement role.

On successful completion of the 11 modules, the Higher Certificate in Business, Procurement is awarded by QQI and students can progress to the Bachelor of Business Ordinary Degree.

Modules to be taken:

Year One, Level 6.1.

  • Fundamentals of Accounting
  • Economics
  • Business Organisation and Information Technology
  • Marketing and Business Communications
  • Principles of Procurement
  • Purchasing and the Commercial Environment

All 10 credits

Level 6.1 is completed when all 6 modules have been successfully completed.

Year Two, Level 6.2.

  • Statistics and Quantitative Methods (15 credits)
  • Fundamentals of Management (10 credits)
  • Introduction to Supply Chain (10 credits)
  • Storage and Distribution (15 credits)
  • Commercial Relationships (10 credits)

Level 6.2 is completed when all 5 modules have been successfully completed and the Higher Certificate in Business is awarded.

 

Assessment

The choice of assessment methods for each module will reflect the stated objectives, the learning outcomes and, the teaching methods employed. The assessment instruments will include:

  • Module Assignments,
  • Terminal Examinations and
  • Learner Reflections.

 

Tuition

We offer a distance learning approach that gives you the flexibility to study for your qualification without the need to attend weekly lectures. With our weekend tutorial sessions each month you can condense your lecture time without interfering with your busy lifestyle.

You will still benefit from our extensive range of learning supports and will also have access to your tutors online.

 

Entry Requirements

For entry to the Higher Certificate programme a candidate must:

  • Be over 23 years of age
  • Have at least three years appropriate work experience
  • Be working in procurement and supply management in the private or public sectors
  • Have five passes in the Leaving Certificate including Mathematics and English or an equivalent educational standard.


As part of the application process, students are required to detail their work experience and to have this verified by their employer.

The Institute reserves the right to interview candidates to assess their suitability for the programme. Exemptions on a module for module basis may be granted.

This programme is a pre-requisite for entry to the Institute’s ordinary, and then honours degree stage.

 

Fees:

The tutorial fees includes weekend classes, revision classes before examinations, technical seminars, access to online student community Moodle with all resources: IIPMM study guides, lecturers notes and presentations, assessment guidelines, past and sample papers, online library. Fees qualify for tax relief.

Classes

Classes are held in Dublin (GCD) and Cork on Friday evenings 6pm to 10pm and Saturdays from 9am to 6pm once a month.

Fees

Fee includes classes, registration fees, course materials, on-line resources, revision courses and examination fees.

Level 6.1 (year one)

Early Bird Rate:

€ 385 per module (6 modules if all selected € 2,320)

The early bird rate applies strictly from Monday 3rd April 2017 until Wednesday 31st May 2017.
A minimum of 50% must be paid on application with the balance to be paid on or before the 31st May 2017. Where the final payment is not received by the due date the fee due will revert to the full quoted fee and you will be billed for the balance due.

Full Fee:

€ 430 per module (6 modules if all selected € 2,580)

 

Level 6.2 (year two)

€ 475 per 10 credit module; 
€ 700 per 15 credit module

€ 2,825 (5 modules if all selected)
